Raiders Hedge their Bets in Vegas

Hey everyone, welcome back to my sports and fitness blog. The sporting world in North America was shocked the other day when during the annual NFL owners meeting a proposal was approved to move yet another NFL franchise. Owners voted 31-1 in support of the Oakland Raiders moving to Las Vegas. The only team voting against the move was the Miami Dolphins, who stated “...we as owners and as a League owe it to the fans to do everything we can to stay in the communities that have supported us until all options have been exhausted,” according to the owner.

The move from Oakland to Las Vegas was not unexpected, and has been in the works for a very long time. Current Raiders owner Mark Davis bought the legal right to the website for the team over 20 years ago. The team is set to continue playing in Oakland for the next season and possibly the season after that, with the added possibility of playing in Santa Clara and sharing Levi Stadium with the San Francisco 49’ers.

The team is finally set to start winning, but will this move disrupt things? With a line up of emerging stars and established veterans the Raiders made it further last year in the playoffs then they have in over a decade, and next season seems to be even more fruitful. Derek Carr and Co. are on pace to be the best Raiders team since the team won a Super Bowl in the early 2000’s, so hopefully this move doesn’t screw it all up for them. Otherwise it will be just another young star ruined by bad ownership.
