Golf Ryder Cup
Well we all know what happened last weekend with the Ryder Cup. It’s been a long time since we’ve had to taste defeat at the hands of the Americans in the Ryder Cup but it’s finally come on their turf. Fair play to them, they played well over the course of the tournament and I had them as favourites ever since the first ball was teed-off to be fair.
There were some great match-ups throughout the few days of play but probably the most epic was that match between McIlroy and Reed. It went ne way, then the other way, it was amazing to watch. Unfortunately for us, Reed came out on top but that’s the way it goes sometimes. The nice thing was, we saw two players playing great golf and playing it in the right spirit. McIlroy showed class at the end when it came to congratulating his opponent and it signified what the Ryder Cup is all about.
It’s a shame maybe that a few of the American supporters didn’t get the memo and there was a bit of a lack of respect when they were making noise to put off some of our golfers. You get that though in most sports and that’s no excuse for the loss. Anyway, when it’s on your home soil, you get those kind of advantages and up until this year, they hadn’t managed to make those advantages count.
Here’s to two years’ time when we’ll be back for another go and I’m sure we’ll retrieve the trophy back from the USA. Under no circumstances can we let them retain it, otherwise they might get comfortable and start a little run going.
